Co+Lab Installation

I completed this project with a design collective, “The Co+Lab,” to be displayed at an art gallery, and to utilize the talents of as many Co+Lab members as I could enlist. I didn’t want to put constraints on their use of media, techniques, and creativity, but in the end wanted the final piece to be unified.

I created an initial drawing of a two-headed monster (the collaborative’s logo) to which another member, Angie Chiu, added her own characters. The two drawings were combined, and then broken-up into fifty 10” x 16” rectangles.

Each rectangle was color-coded with pms numbers and distributed with instructions to color using any technique. Suggestions included photography, collage, painting, digital painting, typography, or creating patterns and textures. Rectangles were returned to me, and I installed the completed pieces.
