About mePicnic Day 2006 Logo
Picnic Day is the annual open house for UC Davis, attracting between 50,000 and 60,000 visitors, and is the largest student-run event in the nation. It celebrates UC Davis campus life as well as its students, faculty, and staff. The theme of the event was “Celebrate Today.”
The challenge behind this project was to not single-out any one of the 150+ events occurring throughout campus by using any specific imagery that might be seen during the day. I used a purely decorative solution.
The logo was used as the starting-point for a team of designers to create all print and electronic advertisements, including a website, posters, and a t-shirt (for which multiple colored variations were created).
